How Are We Funded?
Tennessee Lions Charities has created fundraisers like the Lindsey-Jennings Fellowship and the Tennessee Lions Hall of Fame to support our KidSight Outreach vision screening program. Throughout the year, the staff of Tennessee Lions Charities applies for grants from local businesses and foundations.
Our largest supporters are the Tennessee Lions Clubs and individual Lions.
We are in our 30th year of service to Tennessee's children, families, and Lions. In that time we have seen over 700,000 children participate in our KidSight Outreach vision screening program, which focuses on the early detection of Amblyopia which must be identified and treated as early as possible to prevent low-vision and/or blindness.

Vision problems affect 5-10% of preschool and 25% of school-age children in the United States. Undetected and untreated vision problems can prevent the development of the brain's binocular function, resulting in Amblyopia or "lazy eye." Amblyopia is the leading cause of monocular blindness and a leading cause of vision impairment in Tennessee. Our KidSight Outreach program focuses on the early detection of Amblyopia which must be identified and treated as early as possible to prevent low-vision and/or blindness.
Research shows that children frequently experience difficulty accessing follow-up after referral from a vision screening. In some states that requires annual vision screenings for all school-age children, over half of the children who meet referral criteria during screenings do not receive follow-up services. We are proud to say that in our KidSight Outreach vision screening program, we have seen an average of 80% of our referrals receive productive follow-up. Our follow-up process enables parents/guardians to make educated decisions about their children's vision care, and our partnership with the Lions Clubs of Tennessee ensures that families who cannot afford treatment receive the needed exams and treatment.
Your support will help us continue our efforts to improve the lives of Tennessee's children through increased access to vision screenings and follow-up care.
